| For explosives: the time for which an item, when used in specific operational or training conditions, may be |
| expected to remain safe and suitable for service. The Operational Life of an explosive normally commences from |
| the time it is first exposed (ie unpacked), or from the commencement of its first installation/use/sortie, as |
| appropriate (STANAG 4315 and AOP-46). |
