| Design Organisation | DO |
Description
The organisation appointed by the IPTL to be responsible for the design or design change of an airborne system
or its associated equipment, and for certifying the airworthiness of the design by issue of a Certificate of Design.
The authority for acceptance of a design or any design change remains with the IPTL.
Note 1: Any organisation that is contracted by the IPT to provide design services shall be approved under the
MOD Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS). JSP 553 refers.
Note 2: The terms 'Designer' and 'Design Organisation' have been rationalized. Until affected chapters are
amended, all references to 'Designer' are to be assumed to mean 'Design Organisation'. There are, however,
contexts in which 'designer' will not mean 'Design Organisation'. In case of doubt, please contact the Editor (see
Preface - Chapter 0.3).
