There are no AILs to be deleted

1.   On receipt of a hardcopy AIL, the digital versions of JAP 100A-01 and JAP 100A-02, (JAP(D)), on CD-ROM, will be out of step with the hardcopy/paper versions.

2.   Because it is impossible to update a CD-ROM, the following system has been developed to allow for local updating of a standalone personal computer (PC) or Laptop to the current AIL standard to aid electronic browsing of the JAP 100A-01 and JAP 100A-02.  This is useful if a Sqn/Unit wishes to deploy with a laptop but doesn’t want to take all the paper amendments that go with each chapter.

Note: Although the system will work on a network the additions will only be visible locally.

3.   The system relies on personnel updating the PC/Laptop to the current AIL standard before use.  It is not envisaged that there will be many AILs issued; moreover, if a JAP 100A-01 chapter has an airworthiness implication a new CD will be issued anyway.

4.   The message text in red above indicates the status of previous AILs, ie whether they can be deleted because they have been incorporated in the latest issue of the JAP(D) on CD-ROM.

5.   Simply enter the details from the hardcopy AIL into the electronic version (via the ‘Add New AIL’ hyperlink) and select “Save.”  This creates a folder called “JAP 100A-01 AILs - Do Not Delete” and makes a copy of the AIL on the host computer’s C: drive.  This is where the hyperlink looks when you select “View Amendments.”

6.   To view amendments simply click the title page of the AIL you wish to view and it will display in your browser.

7.   To delete an AIL simply delete the title page and the corresponding folder.

  1. Remember this is purely an aid to electronic browsing, users must be aware that they should check the current AIL status of the JAP(D), on the Polestar web site, JAP 100A-01, prior to use in case the PC/Laptop they are working on has not been updated.
